Saturday: Hi All, I guess I am the self-assigned designated scribe for the day. I just hope I can remember everyone's runs better than I do the courses for class. I have decided that I like small shows. We could set up not far from the car, there were nice familiar people and most of all, you do not have those long, anxiety-producing waits for your turn.

With that said, I will start with Susan and Cooper. I asked Susan how she wanted me to describe her Standard run for the website. We came up with the word entertaining." Cooper did all kinds of naughty tricks that I have never seen him do before, like jump over a tunnel, then back over the tunnel, then on the A-frame and back off...and those were only the ones I remember. Susan was a little disheartened with the run but rallied in their Jumpers class to have a perfect run and a Q and first place. Yeah Susan!

Bob was there with Kadi who is just coming off of a six month maternity leave. Her first run was flawless I believe except she hit a board on the broad jump. As Bob pointed out, Kadi was in Excellent before her leave, so it has been a LONG time since she's seen a broad jump! Their second class was smooth with Kadi picking up some real speed at the end. There was a little issue with the weaves, after coming out of a tunnel, which Bob corrected. I'm not sure where that left them in the scoring.Nora was there "dogless".

She was in the area to run errands and stopped by offer moral support. Thanks Nora. Kathy Brusca was there. I saw one nice run with her Abby but somehow missed the others. As for Lucy, our Standard run had many tight turns, an obstacle discrimination, an "over-turn" weave entry AND the good news is we did it all (with only 5 faults, I'm not sure what we did, maybe went towards something and changed direction) so we FINALLY got another OPEN Q and second (second only to a cattle dog, Mia). Our JWW was pretty good too. Lucy was a little draggy but picked up speed at the end. The judge thought we had a perfect run, I think we stopped forward motion before a triple, but, oh well, I'll take it. We got a Q and a first. WOOHOO Thank you Mia. I may make it out of what was beginning to seem like "OPEN hell" before the end of the summer!!!!

I am lucky enough to be staying at a friend's in Nipomo tonight. We just got back from a walk through the fields by the Nipomo Hills. Lucy is having a blast and says "Tell Mia she's a great instructor!" Dorothy

Sunday: Today was another great day at Santa Maria AKC...Susan and I started with our Open Standard Class. We both agreed it was more open and "flowly" than yesterdays course. Susan had a good run, said she had much more control over contacts (and Cooper) and was pleased but knocked a bar (darn!) I felt similar. I had much better contacts
today with Lucy and a good "lead out" at the start. Unfortunately (there's always that "but") Lucy came off the weaves and was off stride and CRASHED (I do mean crashed) through a triple. Next came our Open JWW class. It was tricky, Susan and I, with some good advice from Bob, decided on our strategies. (Thank you Bob) Susan and Cooper had a nice smooth run BUT (hate that but) knocked ONE bar. Lucy and I had a no-so-
pretty run but ran clean. WOO HOOO. This also means that now Luz De
Mi Vida has an OAJ after her name..WOOOOO HOOO WOOOOO HOOO WOOOO HOOOO

Bob and Kadi were 3 for 4... 2 firsts and 1 second and 3 Q's. Bob says Kadi is picking up where she left off before her maternity leave. She had smooth runs with good
energy, just ("just") a few weave entry issues and some inconsistent contacts (seems that was going around this weekend). Janet reported in with 2 and 2. Phoebe got two Q's in her STD classes and Rowdy got two Q's in his Jumpers classes. Yeah Janet! I have to say again how much I like small shows. Seems like there is more opportunity to chat with
classmates and to remind each other how this sport is for fun and friendship. Dorothy and Lucy PS. Thanks as always to Mia for her teaching and inspiration.
