9:00am Master Agility Skills:
This class is for dogs competing at the Master/Excellent level in trials, or competently working at that skill level. We will work sequences designed to teach and maintain criteria on contact obstacles and weaves, improve and build on handling skills, and prepare for some of the challenges you might see at a weekend agility trial. Dogs need to have both on and off-side weaves, a solid contact performance, able to perform the other obstacles easily: tunnels, tire, spread jumps and table. The handler and dog team are able to do front and rear crosses in agility sequences, and the dog is able to accurately work at a distance. Plan on rewarding your dog frequently during the sequences! We may even work on some of the games classes that you see at agility trials.
Please arrive for this class at 8:15am. You have 15 minutes to set up your area for your dog, and then all hands are needed to start setting up equipment no later than 8:30am, no exceptions. Thank you for your cooperation. Please be ready to start walking exercises before 9:00am so we can maximize your working time. Thank you!
*Per GVDC club policy, dogs in Agility classes must not be aggressive towards other dogs or people, and under control of their handler at all times.*
For all Agility Classes, please bring with you each week:
Your dog on a flat buckle collar or front-clip harness. Bring a variety of delicious meaty treats for your dog, water and a bowl, a chair for yourself, shade for your dog, clicker, 4 or 6 foot leash (no flexi’s please), and ideally a crate or pen for your dog. Please bring a toy or two that your dog really enjoys, to use as a reward throughout the class. For a dog that is not yet motivated by toys or for a pup that needs some cool new ones, please look at the treat pouches lined with bunny fur and fleece and other creations, made by our own Linda Keating. Linda is often at classes and can be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org , and you may be able to purchase from her at Girsh Park: http://kibatoys.com/main.sc
