I had such a great time with the last session of classes, I wanted to continue on. RallyObedience is a creative way to improve your dog’s attention, heeling, Rally, general obedience and basic skills. We will spend 2 weeks working on AKC Rally courses, and two weeks working on APDT Rally courses.
In this class we will work on skills needed for success in Rally Obedience, in both AKC and APDT. We will address training issues, skill building, and proofing for success. We will be working on improving skills for focused heeling, straight fronts, clean finishes (left and right), changes of pace, turns, stays and recalls (APDT), backing up in heel position, pivots, cone exercises, 1, 2, 3 steps forward and backwards, moving stop/walk around/down, needed footwork to cue the dog, and some work with jumps. Dogs should have attended at least one session of Novice Rally classes in the past. While the goal is to improve training and performance for Rally Obedience, this class can help create a focused working dog useful in any dog sport or a well-rounded pet. We’ll be working on short sequences and sometimes full Rally courses.
Bring to class each week: dog on a flat buckle collar, front-clip harness, or head collar. Bring delicious meaty treats for your dog (bring a variety), water and a bowl, chair for yourself, shade for your dog, clicker, 4 or 6 foot leash (no flexi’s please), and ideally a crate or pen for your dog.
