Short Session Agility w/Anne, 3 of 4

August 12, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Thank you for responding to my message about the short session of Agility classes. I decided to work things a little differently and assign everyone to class times for this special, short session. We will be doing the same lesson plan in each class on these Sundays, with some little tweaks based on what the dogs need.

Here are the details of this short session:

1) Please arrive at the park at 8:30am to help with set-up – be sure to be at the trailer by 8:40am ready to move equipment.
Class will start at 9:00am

2) Class Dates: July 15, 29, August 12, 19

3) Cost of the session is $80/GVDC members, $100/non-members. Checks made out to GVDC due on July 15th.

4) If you cannot attend class at your assigned time, please reply to this email to discuss it with me. Thank you to those who already responded with dates that you will not be able to attend class this session.

  • GVDC Membership Information: https://www.goletavalleydogclub.org/about/
  • All classes take place at Girsh Park in Goleta, behind Costco: https://www.goletavalleydogclub.org/practices/
  • Payment for the class session is due on the first day of the session, checks are made out to “GVDC”
  • Dogs showing aggression towards people or other dogs will be asked to leave

Each Agility class will incorporate some level-appropriate agility training, handling skills, and we may possibly even try a couple of the agility games that you see at the trials. Please bring treats and toys to use for rewarding your dog away from you to help improve distance skills and mark the dog’s correct behavior where it happens on course.

For all Agility Classes, please bring with you each week:
Your dog on a flat buckle collar or front-clip harness. Bring a variety of delicious meaty treats for your dog, water and a bowl, a chair for yourself, shade for your dog, clicker, 4 or 6 foot leash (no flexi’s please), and ideally a crate or pen for your dog. Please bring a toy or two that your dog really enjoys, to use as a reward throughout the class.

For a dog that is not yet motivated by toys or for a pup that needs some cool new ones, please look at the treat pouches lined with bunny fur and fleece and other creations, made by our own Linda Keating. Linda is often at classes and can be reached via email at 44linda@cox.net, and you may be able to purchase from her at Girsh Park: http://kibatoys.com/main.sc
